Environmental and Sustainability Initiative
At Liffey Valley Shopping Centre, we take sustainability very seriously, in particular the impact that our decision making process has on the environment. We make every effort to minimise the physical effects we may have on our surroundings and local community. We are sharing these views with our customers, stakeholders and local community, so that we may all understand the importance of sustainability.
We have been a zero landfill scheme since July 2012.
Do We Recycle?
The answer: Yes we do
- Approximately 30 tonnes of cardboard, 4 tonnes of plastic, 12 tonnes of timber per month are recycled.
- Our current recycling rate is 52% of all waste produced. We have been a zero landfill scheme since July 2012.
- All office paper is shredded and recycled.
- All glass bottles from our restaurants are crushed and exported to the UK for recycling.
How do we manage water, gas and electricity?
All incoming utilities supplies are monitored, for instance, our water is metered by the local authority. We have also introduced flow meters on all internal outlets and have reduced our water consumption by 24% in the past 12 months. We work closely with VERTECO (www.verteco.ie) an International Technology Company focused on Energy demand reduction.
Our Local Community
We are the lead corporate sponsor for Round Tower GAA Club, Clondalkin.
